What is CIM?

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is the largest, longest established and most respected marketing organisation in the world, representing the members and industry for nearly 100 years. CIM has the unique ability to confer Chartered Marketer status to deserving holders, in recognition of achievement in theory, practical experience and expertise. Currently CIM has close to 35,000 members worldwide with about 13,000 students.CIM offers a range of marketing qualifications to suit all levels; from junior marketers at the outset of their careers, right through to those at board or senior strategic levels.

Noesis is the only active CIM study centre in Malaysia and Singapore. Noesis provide a well-balanced understanding of theory and practicality in the marketing industry with instructors who are practitioners with wide industry experience in the marketing field and academicians who are practiced in the industry whilst our academicians are dedicated and experienced instructors, most of whom have over 10 years of lecturing and training experience. This provides students with a better understanding of the marketing environment and industry, along with job opportunities.

In providing part-time studies, we understand the priority to provide flexibility for our students in their study schedules. Taking into consideration the need for students to balance work and their studies, classes are conducted intensively on weekends.

We also recognize that as working adults, the sharing of experience in class is an important tool of learning; therefore class numbers are kept small. In addition this allows personal and professional attention to be directed to each individual.

Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing

A level 4 qualification which gives you the practical skills and knowledge to devise and execute tactical marketing activities and gain marketing credibility.

Marketing

Learning Outcomes
Unit 1: The marketing concept
• Understand the role and function of marketing (10%).
• Understand what influences customer behaviour (15%).

Unit 2: Analysis and insight
• Identify factors and trends in the marketing environment and how they affect marketing planning (15%).

Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing

A level 6 qualification which provides the knowledge, skills and ‘ability to do’ in relation to marketing planning and develops the ‘marketing professional’ across a range of areas. The qualification is a hybrid of marketing with considerable emphasis on management as marketers move from specialist aspects of marketing into either a functional or departmental role.

NOESIS prides itself on the quality of its lecturers across all programmes. The profile of some of our Marketing lecturers is below;

Brian O’Donohue (Full-Time)
MBS (Dublin), B. Comm (Mngt & Mkting, Cork), Chartered Marketer (MCIM)
Brian has over 20 years of experience working in Marketing, Management and Consultancy for various multi-national companies, including Cadbury and Johnson & Johnson. He received his Masters from University College, Dublin in Ireland. Brian has 9 years of experience working in Asia (China and Malaysia), and formerly served as Dean of the School of Business at INTI College Subang Jaya, Malaysia. Brian is a CQ Certified Facilitator. Brian has spoken at conferences in the UK, USA, China and Malaysia. He is currently focusing on his PhD in Leadership and Culture.

 

Dr. Yee Wee Chun (Full-Time)
DBA (Northumbria), MBA (Duke), BA (Econs, Virginia)
Wee Chun started his career as a Financial Analyst at General Electric under the prestigious Financial Management Program in the US. After his MBA, he joined the Boston Consulting Group in Kuala Lumpur with assignments in major corporations in Malaysia and Indonesia. Wee Chun was Chief Executive and Executive Director of MIM-INTI Management Institute and INTI Management Services for 7 years before founding Noesis in 2009. His doctoral research is in strategic management. He also was awarded the Dean’s Recognition award at Duke University and graduated with High Distinction at University of Virginia.

 

Alex Lim (Associate)
B.Sc (Applied Sc., USM), MBA (Bath), Chartered Marketer, Cert in PR
Alex Lim is a marketing professional specializing in marketing communications with over 15 years experience in the industry. Alex is currently a Vice President, Corporate Communications in the Financial Services industry. He is a true blue through-the-line communications professional. His client experience spans across many industries, which includes Financial Services, Insurance, FMCG, Oil & Gas, Automobiles, Entertainment and Property. In his agency capacity, he consults clients on marketing communications strategy through implementations and evaluation.Alex has previously worked with leading international agencies; Lowe-Draft, OgilvyOne Worldwide, Euro RSCG Epic, and DYR Wunderman. He holds a BSc in applied sciences and an MBA from University of Bath, UK and is a registered Chartered Marketer with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK where he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. In addition, he holds a Certificate in Public Relations from the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia.

 

Kelvin Tong (Associate)
(BSc (Hons), MSP® Practitioner, PRINCE2® Practitioner
Kelvin has over 13 years of combined working experience over 3 years lecturing for The Sunway Group and just over 11 years in the FMCG industry with British American Tobacco (BAT). He is currently holding the full-time position of Global Project Delivery Manager, based in Malaysia. Kelvin has extensive exposure to diverse cultures, gained in over 8 years of “globe-trotting” Americas, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa, and Asia Pacific. He has previously held senior positions as BAT France (Acting) Head of IT, BAT Caucasus & Central Asia Area Head of IT, and a member of the BAT Kazakhstan Leadership Team. He currently lectures part-time on CIM & CIMA professional programmes at NOESIS.

PROGRAMME REQUIREMENT

To become a CIM candidate, you must have:

An online assessment is available at Noesis to determine eligibility and proposed entry level. (Level 4 or Level 6)

Level Cater To Entry Requirements
Professional Certificate in Marketing Junior marketers, those working in marketing support roles (i.e. Marketing Assistants); or if marketing plays some part in your current job description
  • Hold any general Bachelors or Masters degree

OR

  • Hold the CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing

AND

  • Business or marketing experience would be an advantage but isn’t essential
Professional Diploma in Marketing Those in Sales or Marketing positions with operational responsibility, and a desire to move into a management role
  • The CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing (either 2002 syllabus or the 2008 syllabus)

OR

  • Any business or marketing Bachelors or Masters degree (or an equivalent qualification) where a minimum of one third of credits come from marketing (i.e. 120 credits in Bachelors degrees or 60 credits with Masters degrees)

OR

  • Experience in a marketing management role that has provided you with the ability to be able to demonstrate that you can meet the learning outcomes of the CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing if required to do so and is sufficient to pass with 70% of the diagnostic entry test to Level 6
